Natalie Morales is leaving NBC news after 22 years of reporting. However, she is expected to land at a CBS daytime show known as ‘The Talk’.

The West coast anchor of Dateline NBC said in a note that she would be leaving the network to pursue a new career.

Why Natalie Morales wants to Depart NBC News

Although Morale did not disclose her plans, she is expected to become a host of the program The Talk. Moreover, the addition of Morales to the daytime talk show would follow numerous recent departures including Sharon Osbourne.

She will continue to appear as a Dateline reporter through the rest of 2021. And will be saluted with an on-air farewell tribute of Today in the coming weeks.

How Natalie Morales Started her Career

Furthermore, she joined “Today” in 2006 and five years later became the morning show’s news anchor. She succeeded Ann Curry, who had been named to succeed Meredith Vieira as a major anchor. She was passed over after Curry’s tumultuous leave in 2012, and Savannah Guthrie was promoted to co-anchor instead.

Morales went on to host NBC’s syndicated entertainment show “Access Hollywood”. And then became the West Coast anchor for “Today.”

In her note to her co-worker, Natalie Morales recalled starting her career at WVIT, a local NBC station in Hartford. She did this before making the petrifying leap to MSNBC, where she was an anchor and correspondent. Her employment at “Today and Dateline eventually earned her golden tickets,’ she wrote.

In 2020, while she was still anchoring Today, Morales became a correspondent for Dateline NBC. Also, she previously served as host of NBCU’s ‘Access’ and host of ‘Access Live.’

Morales covered many major breaking news stories during her time at NBC. This includes the sexual harassment scandals, the 2017 Las Vegas massacre, the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing, and many more.

Her Journey as a Correspondent

In October 2010, Natalie Morales, who talks Spanish and Portuguese, live translated and detailed on the Chilean miner rescue. In addition, she earned three Daytime Emmy Awards as part of the Today team. She moreover, won a Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award for her reporting on Honduran lobster divers.

Today executive producer Tom Mazarelli sent a note to NBC News staffers praising Morales for her career at NBC.

.She said that half of her life has been full of adventure, challenges, and opportunities to witness history unfold. And to tell inspiring stories that’ll always be in my mind’s highlight reel.

Although she noted that it is very difficult to say goodbye. And she is grateful for the support and deep friendships she’s had at NBC. Therefore, she said that she has so much to be thankful for. And thanked everyone who has helped her get to where she is now.
